Penang Weekend Trip (2014 December)
A short visit from my university mates over the weekend. A very simple and relaxing trip. A summary of our Penang weekend trip itinerary can be found here.
Day 1
Breakfast at Joo Leong Cafe
I picked up 2 of my friends from the airport around 10am and headed to have breakfast at Joo Leong Cafe, Bayan Lepas. This place is always crowded with people during breakfast time. famous for their toast, half boiled eggs, kopi (coffee) and nasi lemak. While waiting for the other friends to reach, we went to Queensbay Mall for a quick shopping.
Universiti Sains Malaysia
Yup. That’s our university. We happened to have our photos taken here coincidentally 4 years once.
Penang Road Cendol & Laksa
For lunch, we went to the famous Penang Road cendol & laksa. Other than those 2, char koay teow is also very famous, with a long line of people queuing for it.
Jalan-jalan Georgetown
We just randomly walk from our budget accommodation, Malabar Inn at Lebuh Cintra.
Tea Break at Selfie Coffee, Love Lane
It was special. A new gimmick to try, and to take photos and post them to your facebook, instagram, etc. But the taste of the coffee was below average. A cup of Selfie Coffee (also available in Mocha & Chocolate) back then was RM13.

Dinner at Gee Seng Seafood Restaurant, Tambun
We purposely drove all the way to take Penang Second Bridge to go to Tambun, because my friends requested it. Food at Gee Seng was OK, with reasonable price.

Talk Talk Wine Bar & Lounge
Since Christmas is around the corner, we had our Christmas gifts exchanging session at Talk Talk Bar.

Day 2
Occupy Street Beach
Occupy Beach Street is a Weekend Market that temporarily close streets to automobile traffic for activities at part of Beach Street (Lebuh Pantai).
Passing by some interesting ‘arts’ in Georgetown :
Lunch at Sky Hotel Coffee Shop
This place is very famous with their chicken rice. The crowds are never-ending. Tables are always full. To me, the taste was just OK.

Tea Break at Mugshot Cafe
We checked out from Malabar Inn and had our tea break at Mugshot Cafe, Lebuh Chulia. This was once very famous after our dear Penang CM visited it.

Early Dinner at Green Island Western Food, Bayan Baru
Since I have to fetch my friends to the airport, we had our early dinner nearer to the airport. Green Island is just nearby my work place and I find their western food is at reasonable price, and tastes good too. I like their Grilled Chicken with Mushroom Sauce & Chicken Maryland!

Supper at Subaidah Nasi Kandar USM
Well, at the end of the day, I still have 2 friends who will only be leaving on Monday morning. As USM student, we all know the delicious Nasi Lemak of this Subaidah. Other than nasi lemak, I would like to recommend their capati and ‘air limau’ (lime drink).
